Headin’ Back to the Setting Sun
My last day in Virginia was full of good food and better company. As soon as I woke up, we were packed in the car and headed to Williamsburg, VA. The whole week had been go, go, go but the traffic on 64 definitely slowed us down.
Our first stop was Ripley’s Believe It or Not. The kids loved the “4D” movies that we had with the ticket packages. I sat and enjoyed their smiles and excitement while the water spraying effect proceeded to soak the crotch of my jeans. Then we headed into the museum so Zoltar could tell me the future and so I could see a grab bag of obscure displays.
Then we played a cool spy game where we had to get the “cash” without hitting any of the lasers that were all over. I still hit a few because I’m huge. Ripley’s ended with a spinning tunnel that just makes you nauseous and then they spit you out into the humid Virginia streets. I thought we were going to be back in the lobby, but nope. Get out!
We were all pretty hungry after the nausea wore off so we headed to this sweet, little barbecue joint called Rocco’s Smokehouse.
Any chance I get to eat a few different types of animals, I’m game. So I naturally had to get the ribs, brisket, and pulled pork and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. The bones just slid out of the ribs and it was time to get messy. The sauce wasn’t too sweet and had a nice tang to it. I would have only liked it to be spicier, but that’s just me. Just pour the sauce (comes in a IHOP-style syrup dispenser) on the tender, juicy pulled pork and you’re good to go son! And the brisket, let me tell you ’bout that brisket… Beautiful, delicious char on the outside with that smoky flavor in every bite. With your choice of 2 sides and it’s lights out when you get home. Definitely go check them out if you ever make your way out there. This is how it went down.
After 10 minutes…
Then it was time to head back to the house for a few drinks and chillin’ with the family. My brother and I had some real talk and then it was time for bed.
The next morning I gave everyone another hug and it was off to the airport for the longest day ever in the sky.
I made it back home and prepared for my next adventure. Catch you in the skies!
