All Around the Lake
Well this weekend I had the pleasure of spending a weekend out by Lake Tahoe. Hard Rock in South Lake decided to give me a bunch of free nights since the last time I was out there. Plus, it’s my birthday month so all these casinos want to give me free stuff so I decided to go out for a night at Hard Rock in South Lake and then one at the Eldorado in Reno.
So I headed out to Tahoe, which is always a beautiful drive and arrived for my second time at the Hard Rock. I would say this stay was much nicer since I didn’t lose a bunch of money there and the room was free (like really free, the resort fee and everything was on the house). I headed over to Harvey’s to play a little poker.
I had no idea about the crowd that place brings in late on a Saturday night though. I mean, this one dude came in and joined the 3-6 limit game with $100 in chips. As soon as he sat down he said, “How much can I buy-in for? Like can I buy in for more? What game is this?” Then he proceeded to pull out a wad of crumpled up $100 bills and placed them on the table. Soon after this, the floor asked him to leave and we never saw him again. I left pretty tilty after my AA’s got cracked by 9-2 two pair. Who plays that? But I mean, I guess it is limit. I left to fight another day and decided to sleep it off.
The next day, woke up with my spirits renewed and ready to be back in Reno. I played a few tunes in the room before leaving good ole’ Tahoe.
I stopped by a couple places in Reno, like GSR, to use the freeplay I had. I came up a little and headed over to Eldorado to check-in. Let me tell you, the Eldorado had me fooled. The lobby and resort decor is beautiful and classic. Unfortunately, the hallway and the room looked bland, creepy, and resembled a dorm or prison-like setting. I wanted to carve “Brooks was here” into the wall. You can read my complete review of the Eldorado here. Good thing I wasn’t going to be spending too much time in the room. I dumped my stuff and headed downstairs to hit up the casino. After playing a few machines, I wanted to explore downtown a little more and walked over to the Silver Legacy. That Twilight Zone game though… one of my favorites. Then I gave back more of my winnings until I hit like 56 Frodo free spins on the Lord of the Rings machine. Back to the Eldorado for some poker time.
Played an easy limit game with some nice people and delicious drinks. After the mood changed at the table, I decided to leave and I was ready for steak and eggs. There’s just something about steak and eggs that just completes a night of drinking.
It did me good. I decided to do one more round on the casino floor and played this fish game that gave me another $150. Then it was bed time. Thanks Eldorado.
I woke up and needed that breakfast buffet. I wasn’t expecting much but listen up, Eldorado knows what they’re doing.
I know I post a lot of pictures about food but who doesn’t like to eat? If you don’t like breakfast food then something’s wrong with you. That eggs Benedict hit the spot. Their Hollandaise sauce had the perfect zest and creaminess. Bomb!
Then it was time to head back home with my stomach and my wallet full. Thanks Reno for being so good to me.
